FAQ

Do you work with people outside of CO?
Yes! I also have a California license and a PSYPACT E-Passport, which allows me to work with people in these states. If your state is the main blue color on that map, I can provide telehealth (Zoom meetings) there. Unfortunately, I cannot work with people outside the US, as each country has its own regulations around the practice of psychotherapy.
Your next initial consultation appointment is a month out. Can I talk to you sooner?
I look forward to working with you! The free initial consultation is offered in case you have more questions or to figure out if I’m a good fit. If you’re pretty certain you want to work with me, go ahead and schedule your first RRT appointment instead.
Where is your office located?
My office is located at the following address:

1373 Forest Park Circle Suite 201 Lafayette, CO 80026

It’s in the shopping center on the southeast corner of 95th and Arapaho. It’s in the third building on the left with the Medicare office. Parking is free and convenient.

What is a free initial phone call?
This is an opportunity for you to let me know why you are interested in my help and ask any preliminary questions about my services. Although a phone call is typically unnecessary, it may help you determine whether therapy with me is a good fit for your needs.
Is your office handicap accessible?
Unfortunately not. I am on the second floor, and my building does not have an elevator. I offer online, secure therapy sessions for anyone unable to get to my office.
What are your hours?
Monday   11:00am – 5:30pm
Tuesday   7:00am – 2:00pm, 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Wednesday 8:00am – 4:00pm
Thursday   9:00am – 5:00pm
Friday    9:00am – 4:00pm
How long are your meetings?
A complete RRT “session” is 5 hours, divided into two 2-hour sessions and an hour follow-up session.

With children, I often do one hour sessions.

An ADHD assessment is 90 minutes.
How much do you charge?
I charge $250 an hour. For adults, I do two 2-hour sessions, a few days to a week apart, and then an hour follow up session a week or two later.

A complete RRT “session” is 4.5 hours and $1125.
Do you take insurance?
Not directly. Insurance companies have specific and limited ideas of what mental health care should be, and they expect treatment to take place in 50-minute sessions. Rapid Resolution Therapy doesn’t fit with their narrow expectations.

Often insurance companies reimburse you for a portion of my fee. You will need to contact your insurance provider for details regarding their out-of-network coverage.
Can you help me file my insurance?
I am happy to submit forms to your insurance company, which can be a hassle for you, yet is easy for me. As long as I have your insurance information, I can send claims weekly.
How long have you been practicing?
I have been providing therapy for 25 years and have been a licensed psychologist since 2003. Before that, I spent eight years conducting research and therapy as part of my doctoral and post-doctoral training.
With whom do you work?
I work with men, women, and children of all ages interested in finding efficient solutions to their problematic feelings and behaviors. My work is strategic and short term, aimed at providing lasting, effective relief.
Do you work with teenagers?
I work one-on-one with teenagers who experience individual issues, such as anxiety, panic attacks, or traumatic experiences. If their problems have a parental component, I refer them to family therapy.
What should I do to prepare for our meeting?
There is nothing you need to do. Even if you are not as clear as you’d like to be about your goals, we can figure that out within the first hour of our meeting.
How many sessions will I need?
For some problems, like panic attacks or specific, isolated traumatic experiences (e.g., a car accident, difficult birth, rape, or home invasion), one meeting usually provides the relief needed. For more general issues like anxiety or relationship difficulties, my clients find satisfying results in an average of three to six sessions.
How do I get started?
I look forward to working with you! You can schedule a free 20-minute consultation and/or your initial two-hour RRT meeting.

The free initial consultation is offered in case you have more questions or to figure out if I’m a good fit. If you’re pretty certain you want to work with me, go ahead and schedule your first RRT appointment instead.
What is your general approach to therapy?
Unlike traditional psychotherapy, which often creates long-term, time-intensive relationships with a therapist, my work is designed to help you feel better and function more optimally in short order. I approach every meeting as though it is my only shot at eliminating the problem for you. By thinking that way, we stay focused, engaged, and actively problem-solving.

While one session may be all that you need, I am committed to working with you until you no longer struggle with your problematic feelings and behavior. My clients are frequently amazed by how quickly and painlessly we can meet their goals.
